Athletistic/Figure skating. Olympic diving champion and sports journalist Elena Vaitsekhovskaya expressed her opinion on Eteri Tutberidze’s reaction to Tatiana Tarasova’s statements.

Tarasova, speaking about the disqualification of figure skater Kamila Valieva, said that “only a coach can give a pill.” In response, Tutberidze published a message on one of the social networks, in which she called Tarasova’s words “deliberate slander” and demanded an official apology.

“I understand why Tatiana Tarasova’s words hurt Eteri Tutberidze so much, but I don’t understand exactly why Tarasova should apologize, even if it is done purely for opportunistic reasons.
Tatiana Anatolyevna actually expressed (and, it seems to me, without directly referring to Tutberidze and Valieva) the fundamental principle of large-scale sport: an athlete has no right to take medicines, tablets or mixtures other than on the recommendation (or with the consent) of your own trainer. This is absolutely true, just like the fact that a doctor does not have the right to recommend medication to an athlete without agreeing with the coach and receiving his approval.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think Tutberidze’s reaction is also related to this. If we were talking about another athlete, she could, as a professional, repeat Tarasova’s words. Because from the point of view of high-level sport, it is an axiom. This is a rule that does not need to be proven,” Vaitsekhovskaya wrote on her Telegram channel.
