The footballer received a new contract on improved terms, but trusts the management, who promised that they would let him go to Europe
Midfielder Shakhtar Georgy Sudakov spoke about the reasons for signing a new contract with Shakhtar and the substantive interest from foreign clubs.
“We had a verbal agreement with the management: if there is a good offer in the winter and they don’t let me go, they will give me a new contract on improved terms. I think I made a good signing, they gave me the best conditions and I’m happy to stay at the club.”
“Galatasaray, Manchester City, Barcelona – I don’t know about negotiations with these clubs. As for Juventus and Napoli, there were official proposals. Sergey Anatolyevich [Палкин] said that the club rejected an offer of 40 million from Napoli. I know about him. Of course, at first I was a little upset, but I understand that the club wants to earn more money, and I haven’t done everything for Shakhtar yet. Let us remind you that in early February, Shakhtar officially extended the contract with Sudakov. The new agreement is valid until December 31, 2028. The clause of the 21-year-old footballer’s contract is 150 million euros.
Earlier, information appeared that Sudakov and his teammate Artem Bondarenko were being followed by Girona, for which two Ukrainians had already successfully played – Artem Dovbik and Viktor Tsygankov.
Georgy himself said that in the winter Shakhtar received offers from Juventus and Napoli. It was also reported that the midfielder’s entourage is in talks with Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern.
This season, 21-year-old Sudakov played 24 matches for the Donetsk club. He has five goals and two assists.
Shakhtar leads the UPL. Marino Pusic’s team is three points ahead of Krivbass, having played one match less.
