The UCI Ethics Commission suspended the former head of the Ukrainian Cycling Federation Bashenko

The Ukrainian functionary has already received a disqualification from the International Cycling Union in 2021

Ethics Commission International Cycling Union (UCI) officially opened a case against the former president Ukrainian Cycling Federation Alexander Bashenko.

The functionary is accused of using offensive language towards current officials of the National Federation, as well as officials of the UCI and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The UCI Ethics Commission confirmed the suspension of the Ukrainian from all activities related to cycling for one year, starting from May 23, 2023, and also imposed a fine of 5,000 Swiss francs.

This is not the first scandal involving Bashenko, as a result of which he receives sanctions from an international authority. Let us remind you that back in 2021, the ex-head of the Ukrainian Cycling Federation received a disqualification from the UCI.

The functionary was dismissed from the post of head of the FVSU in August 2020, the reason for this was his public conflict with cyclist Anna Solovey.
