The director of the organizing committee of the Russian cross-country skiing championship, Dmitry Ermakov, told that everything is ready for the competition at the Malinovka sports complex in the Arkhangelsk region.

The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship will be held from March 16 to 24. The sprint races will take place on Saturday. According to the weather forecast, there will be heavy rain at the competition venue, the air temperature will be +6 degrees Celsius.

— How do you assess Malinovka’s readiness for the Russian championship?

— Preparations are still underway at the moment. But all the bases are there: the track, the stadium, the refereeing body. Everything is working normally for us. God willing, we will open the championship tomorrow. Not the first time.

— It’s raining now and tomorrow it will be +6 degrees. Could this have any effect?

— The race will definitely take place. Everything will be fine, of course. The weather conditions do not interfere, the route is prepared. There are areas that need additional attention, but in general the sprint circuit is ready for the Russian Championship. There should be no problems in the following days either. The track is ready.

The fact is that the track has been in preparation since the start of the season. Compaction equipment and snow groomers are in service. Thanks to the cushion of already compacted snow, the track is beautiful and pleasant to the touch.

In cooperation with the jury, we make all decisions regarding the forecast that it will be even hotter and there will be even more rain. We work. I can assure that all athletes will compete in the same conditions and on the best prepared tracks,” Ermakov told .
