The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship will be held from March 16 to 24. The sprint races will take place on Saturday. At the same time, the director of the organizing committee of the Russian cross-country skiing championship, Dmitry Ermakov, told that the track was ready for the competition, despite the weather conditions.
“We are very honored to once again have the opportunity to host the most important cross-country ski competitions. For us, this is not only honorable, but also understandable. This is not the first time we have held major competitions in Malinovka. Indeed, we are developing this ski resort. Plus, it’s unique. We develop it in collaboration with socially responsible companies.
It should be noted that today the representatives of the Arkhangelsk region team are among the best skiers in Russia and the world. For us, skiing is a particularly important sport. Priority sport. The greatest number of residents in the region practice cross-country skiing. It is our traditional sport. Some colleagues, of course, say that we have taken the best skiers and, therefore, this is going somewhere, perhaps to the detriment of the development of cross-country skiing among local residents. This is absolutely not true! We have big plans to create a whole skier training system. And these guys who play for our region become a kind of symbol of the development of this sport. And at the same time, they are nearby, young local athletes have someone to follow.
