Joshua will wait for the outcome of the confrontation between Usyk and Fury
Promoter Eddie Hearn expressed confidence that his ward Anthony Joshua will be ready to enter the ring again after a fight for the title of absolute world champion between the holder of the WBC belt Tyson Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Alexander Usik.
“No decision will be made about AJ’s return before the Fury-Usyk fight. I simply believe that if Tyson Fury wins this fight comfortably, then His Excellency Turki Al Al Sheikh will do everything possible, regardless of the two-fight deal, to get the biggest fight in the history of this sport. Indeed, AJ has a lot of opportunities right now,” Hearn said.
Hearn previously named Joshua the No. 1 heavyweight boxer in the world. Tyson Fury responded to these words that the real number one will be determined in his fight with Usik.
Joshua defeated former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou. Already in the first round, the Briton shocked the Cameroonian with a powerful blow, knocking him down. Francis managed to get up and continue the fight, but in the second round Joshua carried out another great attack and knocked out his opponent.
Fury and Usyk will fight for the title of absolute world champion on May 18 in Riyadh. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that an agreement had been reached between the boxers for a re-fight.
