Marta was able to take only three games in the confrontation with the first racket of the world
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk could not compete on equal terms with the first racket of the world Ige Schwiatek in the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 1000 in American Indian Wells.
Marta managed to win only three games in a two-set match that lasted just over an hour. In the middle of the second game, the Ukrainian had to resort to medical assistance due to problems with her left leg.
Kostyuk was unable to make it to the finals, however, this stage also became a record achievement for her at the WTA 1000 level. Marta is generally having an outstanding 2024: first the historic quarterfinals of the Australian Open, then the finals of the tournament in San Diego, and now a new success.
The performance in Indian Wells brought the 21-year-old Ukrainian 390 points, thanks to which she will rise to 26th place in the world rankings for the first time in her career.
