Zinchenko: We don’t need to look at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina – we need to prepare and show our best game

One of the leaders of the Ukrainian national team is confident that the team is able to demonstrate “much more than the fans expect”

Midfielder Ukrainian national team Alexander Zinchenko commented on the upcoming play-off match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in qualification European Championship 2024.

“I think that we don’t need to look at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but we need to prepare ourselves and show our best game. If we focus on ourselves, we can deliver much more than the fans expect. You don’t need to look at the opponent’s level – you need to prepare and show your best game.”

Let us remind you that Alexander became the first foreign player to join Sergei Rebrov’s team at the preparatory training camp in Marbella, Spain. Later, two more “Englishmen” arrived – Vitaly Mikolenko and Ilya Zabarny.

27-year-old Zinchenko missed about a month due to injury, only recovered a week ago and managed to appear as a substitute for Arsenal twice – against Brentford (2:1) and Porto (1:0, 4:2 pen.). In total, he played 29 matches for the Gunners this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

On March 21, Rebrov’s team will play an away match in the semi-finals of the playoffs against the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting will take place in the city of Zenica at the Bilino Pole stadium. Starts at 20:45 local time (21:45 Kyiv time).

If successful, Ukraine will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation. The final match will be a “home” match for the blue-yellows and will take place on March 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The final part of Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
