Zabarny: We are only aiming for victory. I think that everything will be fine with us

Ilya is pleased to have scored his debut goal for Bournemouth and hopes that he can help his team in the same way

Defender Ukrainian national team Ilya Zabarny shared his impressions of his successful season in Bournemouth and expectations from the upcoming play-off match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in qualification Euro 2024.

“It’s always a pleasure to come to the national team’s camp. And not only because everything is good at my club now. I just missed the guys, this internal energy that is in the team.”

“Of course, the right note was set in the club. I am very pleased that I was able to distinguish myself, because this is important to me. I hope this is not my last goal in England. I will work so that there are goals for the national team. Perhaps not the same, because that ball was, so to speak, a working ball.”

“It will be an important game, and we are only looking forward to winning. All the guys understand this, so I think everything will be fine with us. I think we are ready for the fight. We are working on all aspects – including standards. We know what to do in such situations. It’s good when I have the opportunity to connect and help the team. I fully support this.”

“Here we are in very good weather conditions. In England, for example, it is raining now. And although I’m already used to them, it’s nice to arrive and sweat even when getting off the plane. There are very good fields and a hotel here. There is everything for full preparation, so all that remains is to play.”

Zabarny, together with Everton defender Vitaly Mikolenko, arrived at the national team’s location yesterday, March 15. Sergei Rebrov’s team is currently holding a training camp in Marbella, Spain.

The 21-year-old Ukrainian defender played all 28 Premier League matches this season for Bournemouth, and also appeared on the field five times in cup competitions. On March 13, Ilya scored his debut goal for the English club, taking part in an incredible comeback against Luton (4:3).

On March 21, Rebrov’s team will play an away match in the semi-finals of the playoffs against the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting will take place in the city of Zenica at the Bilino Pole stadium. Starts at 20:45 local time (21:45 Kyiv time).

If successful, Ukraine will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation. The final match will be a “home” match for the blue-yellows and will take place on March 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The final part of Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
