The Lviv team destroyed the opponent in the first half, and after the break they defended the result
Metalist 1925 in a nominally home match of the 21st round Ukrainian Premier League lost with a crushing score Ruhu – 1:4.
In the first half, the Lviv team did what they wanted. First, Ilya Kvasnitsa earned a penalty, and Freddy Pluman converted it. A couple of minutes later, Kvasnitsa, running into a counterattack, scored himself.
Towards the end of the half, Denis Pidgursky robbed Denis Garmash, walked half the field and, with a rebound from Maxim Imerekov, brought the score to a major one. Viktor Skripnik’s team frankly “floated” and conceded for the fourth time – Pluman scored a double after Alexey Sych’s cross.
Immediately after the break, Vitaly Ponomarev’s team was left with ten men. Vitaly Roman drove his spikes into the face of goalkeeper Yaroslav Protsenko – the latter then needed a replacement.
The Kharkov team desperately attacked throughout the entire half, trying to make the score less shameful. Goalkeeper Dmitry Ledviy made the save, in particular after Andrey Boryachuk’s shot. In the middle of the half, after a set piece, Rostislav Rusin pushed the ball into the goal, but after a very long review by the referee, the goal was canceled – offside.
Still, the 1925s managed to score a “prestige” goal – it was scored by namesake Imerekov from a pass from the fresh Maxim Zhichikov. Skrypnyk’s team immediately earned a penalty, but even then the VAR made a decision in favor of Rukh – the replay showed that there was no handball.
The score remained unchanged. Metalist 1925, who scored only one point under Skripnik, remains with 16 points in the zone of transition matches. Rukh scored 36 points and moved closer to Dynamo, who are in fourth (although the Kyivans have three games in hand).
In the next round, the Kharkov team will play with Zorya, and the Lviv team will host LNZ.
