The Ukrainian team won the medal standings with 19 medals to its credit
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met with the Ukrainian team, which successfully performed at XX Winter Deflympic Games in Erzurum, Turkey.
The head of state also awarded the athletes with the Order of Merit, I, II and III degrees, Princess Olga II and III degrees, and medals “For Labor and Valor,” and the coaches with the Order of Princess Olga, II degree, medals “For Labor and Valor,” and awarded honorary titles “Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine.”
“You give Ukraine pride, the opportunity to be proud of its people, the strength of Ukrainians and powerful Ukrainian achievements,” he emphasized.
“And everyone who gains the world’s respect for the Ukrainian character and the Ukrainian state helps us all. Helps people survive. Helps our soldiers at the front to survive in the fight for our independence.”
For the first time in history, Ukraine won the medal count of the Winter Deaflympic Games with 19 medals: 10 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.
