Skier Ivan Gorbunov told that during Saturday’s sprint at the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship in Malinovka, he came closer to his season goal, beating the three-time Olympic champion Alexandra Bolshunova .
Gorbunov won silver at the Russian Championship in the sprint, 0.11 seconds behind the leader. The victory was won by three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov, covering the distance in 3 minutes 13.49 seconds. Sergei Ustyugov won bronze (+0.96).
After the race, representatives of the Tatarstan team lodged a protest against Bolshunov’s result because he had changed lanes at the finish, but he was not satisfied.
