Ukraine will be able to produce two athletes at a distance of 20 km
Ukrainian athlete Maria Sakharuk won the license for the upcoming Olympic Games 2024 in Paris in race walking 20 km.
Sakharuk fulfilled the Olympic standard at the event in Slovakia – Dudinska 50. With a result of 1:29:14, she won the silver medal, losing only to Peruvian Evelyn Inge (1:27:42).
This is the second license for Ukraine in this category. Earlier, Elena Sobchuk qualified for the 2024 Olympics. Ukraine also has the opportunity to choose a third Olympic quota.
Sakharuk will be able to compete at his second Olympics in his career. At the 2020 Olympics, Maria became the only Ukrainian who entered the top 20 in the 20 km race walking distance.
In total, the Ukrainian squad, after the success of Sakharuk, has 77 athletes in the following categories: football, diving, athletics, rowing, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, shooting, swimming, fencing, cycling, wrestling, artistic swimming, boxing and modern pentathlon.
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11.
