Johannes Boe won the World Cup’s Big Crystal Globe ahead of schedule

The Norwegian biathlete won the overall season classification for the fifth time in his career.

Norwegian Johannes Boe ahead of schedule became the winner of the Big Crystal Globe of the Biathlon World Cup in the 2023/24 season.

After winning the pursuit race at the final stage of the World Cup in Canmore, Canada, the overall leader became unreachable by his brother Tarjei Boe, who was in second place on the list. The gap between the athletes is 137 points.

For Johannes Boe, this Big Crystal Globe is the fifth in his career. Previously, the Norwegian biathlete won the overall World Cup in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

In terms of the number of seasons won, Be ranks third in history, behind only Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, who has six Big Crystal Globes, and Frenchman Martin Fourcade, who has seven trophies.

The pursuit victory in Canmore was Be’s 84th in individual World Cup races and took him to a clear second place in this indicator. The Norwegian leads Fourcade, who has 83 wins, and Bjoerndalen leads this ranking with 95 wins.

It is also worth noting that this season Johannes Boe won the Small Crystal Globes in the individual and pursuit races.
