The Ukrainian was included in the team’s roster for the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying match with Romania
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva told about her invitation to Ukrainian national team for the match with Romania in qualifying Billie Jean King Cup.
“About a couple of weeks ago, Mikhail Philima contacted me and offered to take part in the national team match, which I was very happy about. I didn’t have any plans during the week of the Billie Jean King Cup, plus the match will be held not far from me – a three-hour flight and I’m there.”
“I communicate a little with Lesya Tsurenko. I don’t know Elina Svitolina yet, and we met the Kichenok sisters a couple of times, but didn’t really communicate. I would really like to play a couple with one of them.”
“I am very familiar with green clay, since most clubs in New York have such a surface, so I can say that being in America, most of the time I train on green clay. Now I’m planning to play in Miami – I hope I get there, I’m fifth in the alternative. Depending on how I play in Miami, I might go to Mexico (WTA 125) and then Colombia (WTA 250). After this there will be the Billie Jean King Cup.”
The confrontation will take place in Florida on April 12 and 13. The matches will be played on clay (on green clay courts).
For the third year in a row, Ukraine is trying to make it to the finals of the Billie Jean King Cup. In 2022, our tennis players lost to the US team, and in 2023 – to the Czech national team.
