Ukrainian women’s saber fencing team became a bronze medalist World Cup in the Belgian Sint-Niklaas.
Our country was represented at this tournament Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Yulia Bakastova And Elena Kravatskaya.
In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainians beat Poland (45:38), then were able to break the resistance of the US team (45:43).
The Ukrainian team stopped one step before the final, losing to the leader of the world ranking – the French team (39:45). But in the “bronze” match, our compatriots beat their rivals from Korea – 45:38.
The World Cup in Sint-Niklaas became the final one for Ukraine as part of the team selection for the 2024 Olympic Games. Let us remind you that in early March, Ukrainian saber fencers won an Olympic license ahead of schedule, taking second place at the World Cup in Athens. Previously, Olga Kharlan received a personal quota by decision of the IOC.
