Skating coach Borovikova: “For me, the season opener is men’s single skating. There has been a breakthrough that has not happened in a very long time.

Coach Maria Borovikova, in an interview with , said that this season she was very satisfied with the performance of Russian figure skaters in men’s single skating.

Earlier, 19-year-old Vladislav Dikidzhi posted a video on his Telegram channel in which he cleanly performs an Axel of 4.5 turns in training. Dikiji won silver at the Russian Championship in the 2023/24 season, won two stages of the country’s Grand Prix and became third in the series finale.

Evgeniy Semenenko won the Russian Championship and the Spartakiad of the Strongest.

— A discovery for me is men’s individual skating. There has been a breakthrough that has not happened in a very long time. All our boys are jumpers and artistic, and their programs are interesting, and the competition is so serious! Probably, thanks to competition, they improve. After all, it is a necessary thing for an athlete’s growth.

Pair skating is also starting to compete. There are no longer just two stable leaders, but good young couples who are interesting to watch. It’s also good when the more experienced people start moving and feel that they have to work hard so that the young people don’t get left behind.

Dance is now also a treasure trove of young and interesting duets. I remember last season, when there were barely three couples for the Russian Cup stages. Now there are many of them: all 10 places were occupied and there weren’t even enough. Therefore, the dance also progresses little by little.

As usual, our little juniors are jumping very cool. God bless them and may they maintain this skill for a long time! And so that this will be enough when we start reaching the international level again! – Borovikova told .

Borovikova is the coach of the Irina Khavronina/David Narizhny dance duo.
