Swimmer Egorova said she wanted to compete in Europe, but was turned down

Russian medalist in swimming at the European Championships Anna Egorova in an interview with , she stated that she had been refused participation in three international competitions.

Egorova trains in Austria. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) announced earlier that it would not invite Russians to competitions under its auspices until the end of 2022.

“Unfortunately, I was refused the competition. And at Mare Nostrum, and at the Norwegian championship, then at competitions in Paris. In principle, I could play at Mare Nostrum, at the French stadium for my club. The club gave me rented a hotel, told me remotely, they paid for everything, but two days before the competition they said that I could not participate. The club apologized – what can they do? – Not. The longest is during a pandemic. Moreover, we started in training, there is such a practice – twice a week we start in overalls.
