World champion and silver medalist at the Athens Olympic Games in athletics, Olesya Krasnomovets, was the victim of thieves in Italy.
— Thank you to everyone who supports me and offers their help. I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown, I can’t stay here anymore and I want to go home. I don’t want to stay here another minute, it’s just some kind of nightmare,” the woman wrote on social media.
Krasnomovets flew to the Italian capital on March 12 with friends to participate in the marathon.
— When receiving a starter package, like here in Russia, documents are required. We were on an excursion. This is not my first visit to Rome and I know what the situation is there. We stopped at a cafe. I hung my bag on the chair and my jacket on it. Friends were sitting opposite. Things were in sight. We had lunch, we got up, there was no bag,” Krasnomovets quoted KP-Yekaterinburg as saying.
AirPods headphones helped find the thieves. On the evening of the 16th, the Russians located the location of the aircraft and came across a Romanian camp.
– It was really scary. We are in a foreign country and the whole camp has rushed towards us. They lived under the bridge. Of course, they didn’t give us anything. There is only one conclusion: you should not relax. I still don’t know how to get home. We were supposed to return on March 18, but the tickets had to be returned,” Krasnomovets added.
Krasnomovets won silver in the 4×400 meter relay at the 2004 Olympics. The athlete is a world champion and three-time winner of the world indoor championships.
