British cyclist Laura Kenny has announced her decision to retire.
The 31-year-old won five Olympic gold medals and seven world titles and became a ten-time European champion.
She gave birth to her second child in July and had already planned to compete in the Paris Olympics.
“I always knew in my heart that the right time would come. “I was delighted, but now it’s time to retire,” Kenny was quoted as saying by the BBC.
Laura Kenny is a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE). The only British woman in history to win more than three Olympic gold medals.
