Athletistic/OI-2024. The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, expressed his opinion on a possible boycott of the Russian part of the Olympic Games in Paris. He stressed that collective responsibility for government actions should not be applied.

“I do not believe that a Russian boycott would be a good thing. A boycott never brings any benefit. Our position and principles on this issue are very clear. We strictly punish those who violate the Olympic Charter. However, I also insists on the protection of those who do not violate the Charter. This is about promoting human rights and the principle of collective non-culpability. Athletes must not be held responsible for the actions of their government. S “They support such actions, then they are subject to sanctions. But if this is not the case, they should have the same rights as others,” Bach said in an interview with Le Monde.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
