RB Leipzig sees Dovbik as a possible replacement for one of their forwards

There is interest in Openda and Sheshko from other top championships

RB Leipzig watching the attacker Girona by Artem Dovbik. The German club sees the Ukrainian as an option to replace one of their main forwards in the event of their summer departure.

It is reported that one of the pair of forwards Lois Openda – Benjamin Sheshko, or even both at once, may leave the Bulls in the summer transfer window. There is interest in the Belgian and Slovenian from clubs in the English Premier League and French Ligue 1.

26-year-old Dovbik played 30 matches for Girona, scored 14 goals, and gave seven assists. At the same time, the forward is suffering from a long goal drought – the last time he scored was back in January against Sevilla.

In February it was reported that the Ukrainian was on the short list of three Premier League clubs – Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle. At the same time, Girona is ready to offer Dovbik a new and improved contract agreement in the summer.

Openda and Sheshko came to Leipzig last summer, from Lens and Salzburg respectively. The Bulls did not skimp on transfers, paying 62.5 million euros for both forwards.

The 24-year-old Belgian has already scored 23 goals in all competitions and provided four assists this season. The 20-year-old Slovenian’s performance is more modest: 11 goals scored and two assists.

RB Leipzig is fifth in the Bundesliga, one point behind Borussia Dortmund. Girona is third in the Spanish La Liga, losing two points to Barcelona and ten to Real Madrid.
