President of the Russian Cycling Federation (RFCRF) Vyacheslav Ekimov told that he supports the participation of Russian athletes in neutral status at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO. On Tuesday, it was announced that the IOC executive committee did not allow Russian athletes to participate in the athletes’ parade at the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris. The organization also said that at the 2024 Olympics, according to the most likely scenario, 36 Russian athletes will participate, who will have to sign a special document.
— I have always been for the participation of our athletes, we have professional riders who will be ready to compete in Paris, we have quotas on the highway.
— The story of the ban on participating in the opening ceremony, for example, doesn’t confuse you?
– No way. There have been several Olympics in my career, I have never attended the opening and I do not regret it,” Ekimov told .
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
