The Volleyball Federation of Ukraine accepts documents for a vacant position until April 4
Head coach Ukrainian men’s volleyball team Ugis Krastins will leave his post, said the President of the Volleyball Federation of Ukraine Mikhail Melnik. Until April 4, the FVU accepts documents from candidates for the vacant position.
“Documents are being accepted until April 4. The Volleyball Federation of Ukraine has long decided who to support. This consent, in principle, was given by the main sponsor, who will pay for the work of this coach,” Melnyk said.
“I can’t say who it will be. There will be a competition, maybe someone else will win. But, whoever it is, first of all I want to thank Ugis Krastinsha, our coach, who did a lot for Ukrainian volleyball, brought us that Europeanness, gave us the right direction. But time passes and we need to move forward.”
Krastins has led the Ukrainian national team since 2017. Under his leadership, the men’s team won and took prizes in the Golden Euroleague and reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Championship. Ukrainians failed to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In May, the Ukrainian national team will compete in the next Golden Euroleague. The blue-yellows will play their first match against Romania on May 18.
