Athletistic/Figure skating. Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko expressed the opinion that Russian athletes should participate in the Paris Games, even if they have a neutral status and certain restrictions are imposed.

“Sport is in a difficult situation these days. We are not allowed anywhere. And I hear calls to boycott the games for all our athletes, even if they are admitted in neutral status.

I think there is no point in boycotting. We must go to the Games being neutral and prove our superiority with medals and results, so that everyone understands that we are the best. We have to prepare ourselves in a way that we can outperform everyone and show where we come from and what country we represent. Our anthem will be in the hearts of our athletes, our flag will be in their hearts and we will represent our country.

If we boycott the Olympics, they will easily win all the medals. It’s not correct. We must fight and defend our positions. We must fight for self-respect,” Plushenko said in Arguments and Facts.
