Kostyuk: I’ll play singles at the Olympics, I don’t know about doubles yet

The Ukrainian noted that the Games will not affect the training calendar

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk shared plans for Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.

“No, performance in Indian Wells does not affect preparations for the Games in any way. We have exactly the same calendar, we just add one more tournament in July, namely the Olympics.”

“I plan to perform there. I don’t know if I’ll compete as a pair, but I’ll definitely compete as a single. I’m really looking forward to my debut there.”

“It will definitely be very exciting, but hopefully it will take my mind off how big this event is. Just to represent our flag, our country. Of course, I want a medal, but that’s still a long way off.”

Marta reached the semifinals of the Indian Wells tournament, where she lost to world number one Iga Szwiatek. Kostyuk set a personal record, rising to 26th place in the world rankings.

It should be noted that tennis players from the top 56 of the WTA rankings have the right to compete at the Olympics, no more than four athletes from one country in singles. The games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
