Stepanova promised to present her Olympic medal to the athlete who will fly the Russian flag at the Paris Games

Olympic ski relay champion Veronica Stepanova has promised to donate its 2022 Games medal to a Russian athlete who will fly the country’s flag during broadcasts of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

On Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at a press conference showed the flag under which Russian and Belarusian athletes will appear in neutral status at the Summer Games in Paris. It is made in turquoise color.

— Panties/thongs must be this color, not the flag. I hope that one of our athletes, who will eventually win in Paris, will pull out our Russian flag from his bosom in front of live television cameras. He will become a hero of the country. And I will give him my Olympic medal! — Stepanova wrote in Telegram channel .

The IOC announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. On Tuesday, it was announced that the IOC executive committee did not allow Russian athletes to participate in the athletes’ parade at the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris. The organization also said that, according to the most likely scenario, 36 Russian athletes will participate in the 2024 Olympic Games, who will have to sign a special document. A commission will determine whether Russians meet the admission criteria.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
