“Belgorod Arena” was damaged during the bombing, there were no casualties” – director of the sports complex

The director of the Belgorod Arena, Yuri Chernikov, explained the damage suffered by the sports complex after the shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces.

“Belgorod Arena” is the stadium of the Super League men’s volleyball club “Belogory” . The team will play home games this season in Tula due to a security threat.

– Trouble has happened to us. Unfortunately, it arrived to us in the morning. I am happy that there were no injuries or deaths. There was only security on site, but it was located where there were no arrivals.

It’s a real shame for the arena. We will fix it. We will do everything so that our athletes can train here comfortably. Just to the point of crying, dammit. [Повреждены] the administrative building, my office, the secretariat… They are gone, everything is broken. Glass damage, which accounts for about 20 percent, is one of the most expensive pleasures. Well, the equipment we have is very expensive. Everything is European. There is also a lot of damage.

The main thing is that there are no casualties. Everyone was distant. Athletes and all events have been canceled. There was only one administrative building. Ten minutes before my arrival, all this happened,” Chernikov told reporters.
