In Slovenian Planica, Evgeniy took fifth place in qualifying – the best result at this level in the history of Ukraine
Ukrainian Evgeniy Marusyak updated national record by range ski flying from a ski jump in qualifying for the 2023/24 World Cup in Slovenska Planica. He beat his own achievement, set six days earlier.
In the qualification of ski jumping, the Ukrainian managed to fly 228.5 meters. Thus, he beat the previous record by five and a half meters, which he himself set on March 15 in qualifying for the World Cup in Vikersund, Norway.
His historic result in Planica allowed the Ukrainian to earn 205.5 points and advance to the finals of the competition from fifth place, ahead of many titled opponents. Never before have Ukrainian ski jumpers taken such a high place in the qualifications of the World Cup stages.
Another Ukrainian, Vitaly Kalinichenko, showed the 46th result in today’s competitions and was unable to overcome the qualification barrier.
The final ski jumping competition starts in Planica tomorrow, March 22. The stage will end on Sunday, 24th.
