Athletistic/OI-2024. French Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castera expressed support for the decision to exclude Russian athletes competing in neutral status from participation in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. It was previously announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus would not take part in the team parade at the opening of the competition.

“It’s a coherent decision. Russia will not be represented in the parade of athletes during the opening ceremony of the Games. At the end of the parade on the Seine, individual athletes, if they wish, will be able to attend the ceremonial part on the Place du Trocadéro in the company of athletes from other delegations. Everyone understands that Russia, as a state and a nation, is excluded from these Games. The situation will be similar during the closing ceremony,” said Udea-Kastera, quoted by BFMTV.

The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
