Albert Gudmundsson scores a hat-trick
Iceland national team crushed Israel in the semi-finals of the qualifying playoffs European Championship 2024 – 4:1.
The fight took place in Budapest. The nominal hosts of the match, the Israelis, opened the scoring in the middle of the first half, Eran Zahavi converted a penalty. The Icelanders responded with goals from Albert Gudmundsson and Arnor Traustason within three minutes of each other.
In the second half, Israel’s position became critical after Roy Revivo was sent off. Zahavi later missed the second penalty of the match. The Icelanders responded with two more goals from Gudmundsson at the end of the meeting, who eventually scored a hat-trick.
In the final of the selection for the European Championship, the Icelandic team will play against Ukraine. The blue-and-yellows won a strong-willed victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a tense match. The nominally “home” match for Sergei Rebrov’s team will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26.
