In the group of the senior coach of the Russian cross-country ski team Egor Sorine European training methods prevail more, the skier said in an interview with Sergei Ardashev .
Ardashev, 25, trains in Sorin’s group. At the Alfa-Bank Russian Championship in Malinovka, Ardashev won three bronze medals: in the skiathlon, team sprint and relay.
— As you yourself noted, this season you have made the most tangible progress in recent years. To what extent did the return of Egor Sorin to the group a year and a half ago contribute to this?
— Don’t forget that I won the Youth World Championship with Oleg Perevozchikov. It was also a good season at the time! But the next two turned out to be disastrous: something still didn’t work. As a result, my personal trainer and I decided that this training was not suitable for us – we contacted Yegor Vladimirovich and talked. So I continued. Immediately after the transition, I kind of recovered – last season it was better than before. And now we manage to keep the bar all season.
I think a lot of work has been done by all the specialists for this, including the service. The training and methodology in Sorin’s group suits me better.
— It is clear that young athletes are choosing Sorin’s group more and more often. What is his phenomenon as a coach?
— In the way the preparation itself is structured. I trained with Alexander Kravchenko and Perevozchikov. I don’t want to offend them, but their training is more Soviet style: heavy loads, high pace.
— It turns out that Egor is more of a European coach?
— Yes, we use more European methods. For example, often with conventional methods you start to overdo it during training when working in zones of pulse intensity. With Egor Vladimirovich’s method, you always achieve everything exactly as planned. You did the job – you stepped back calmly, you didn’t blow anything up. And thanks to that, you move forward. In addition, we have faster work than in other groups,” Ardashev told .
