Larkov, medalist skier at the 2018 Olympic Games: “If you compare my performance at the Chechen Championships with my past achievements, then it is average”

Silver and bronze medalist at the 2018 Olympics Andrei Larkov told that he performed worse at the Russian cross-country championships than at other competitions.

Larkov, as part of the Tatarstan team with Sergei Ardashev, Anton Timashov and Ivan Gorbunov, won bronze in the relay at the Russian Championship.

— At the Spartakiad, Tatarstan won gold in the relay race. How is bronze at the Russian Championship perceived in this case?

— Let’s start with the fact that at the Spartakiad Alexei Chervotkin represented Moscow and not the Arkhangelsk region. And this is the decisive detail. Today he fled to the Arkhangelsk region. Of course, Alexey seriously strengthened the team.

Well, our team is not in optimal condition. Anton Timashov is a little out of shape. But I know he is capable of more. After all, a relay race is a type of competition in which each stage is important in its own way. We didn’t do enough work, but we did it. To be honest, we were counting on second place today.

— How do you evaluate your performance at the Russian Championship?

— If you compare it to past achievements, the performance is poor. But I finished ninth in the duathlon… I think that’s not bad. During the classic race, we almost made a mistake with the skis. I also wanted to be in the top ten, but it didn’t work out. Not happy with the “classic”. Today I didn’t have enough distance in the relay race. One more round and the situation would have been completely different. And 7.5 km is a short race,” Larkov told .

The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship takes place from March 16 to 24 at the Malinovka ski center in the Arkhangelsk region.
