Yulia Efimova: “At the Moscow Championships, I even won the 200m medley. Good tournament!

Triple Olympic medalist, six-time world swimming champion Yulia Efimova in a conversation with a correspondent, she talked about her performance at the Moscow Championship.

Earlier, Efimova told that starting this year she will compete for the capital region at the All-Russian competitions. The Moscow championship in the 50-meter pool was necessary for Efimova in order to qualify for the Russian championship, which will be held in Kazan from April 14 to 19.

The athlete won gold medals in 50m breaststroke (30.98 seconds), 100m breaststroke (1:08.71), 200m breaststroke (2:29.34), 200m medley (2:17.98), as well as a silver medal in the 4×100 m medley relay, where Yana Kazakova, Alexandra Vermenich, Rozalia Nasretdinova (4.12.84) also performed.

— How was the Moscow swimming championship? I think it’s great! She won four gold medals and one silver. I even won the 200m medley and received the cup for the best athlete of the competition.

— How do you find the tournament?

“I really liked the way the organizers tried. They are awesome! Very nice atmosphere. The fans came and we took photos. I managed to perform at five distances in four days. The only thing is that I missed the moment when the award ceremony took place. After the final, she went out “shopping” and missed the time she was supposed to go to the awards ceremony. It’s rude not to show up there, and I apologize for what happened. I did not do it on purpose ! It’s just such an overlay that came out.

— Why did you participate in the 200m medley?

— After all the breaststroke finals, on the last day of competition, we thought of coming to Aquatoria ZIL to train. But my father-coach said that the best training was a competition: “Swimming complex”. And they also proposed a relay race.

I’m happy to have played like that. Besides, it was the first day after the flight from America, when the acclimatization stopped, I began to understand what was happening, where I was (laughs). And little by little, everything began to “become blurred”.

For me, the Moscow Championship was not only a good tournament, but also a great start. Training is good, but competition is completely different,” Efimova told .
