American figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates win first place after rhythm dance at the World Championships in Montreal (Canada).
According to the results of the rhythm dance, Chock and Bates scored 90.08 points. Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri finished second (87.52), while Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier finished third (86.51). Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin finished 12th (74.46).
Before the current season, Davis/Smolkin represented Russia, they are vice-champions of the country in 2022 and participants in the 2022 Olympic Games. Today, the skaters compete for the Georgian national team: at the 2024 European Championships in Kaunas (Lithuania) they took seventh place.
The skaters will present their free dance on March 23. The World Championship will end on March 24 with exhibition performances.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
