The midfielder made his debut in the national team
Midfielder Ukrainian national team Alexey Gutsulyak spoke about his debut match for the national team against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:1) in the qualifying playoffs European Championship 2024.
“The match was tough, and it’s always difficult to go into a game like this, but to say that I was too worried, no. It’s good that the result is still in our favor. At first the hosts built powerful defensive lines, but when I entered the field, I think they were already a little tired. It became easier in attack and we took advantage of it.”
“I appeared in my position on the right and then moved to the center. Rebrov’s goal was simple – win the match. Some things worked out for me, some things didn’t, but I think I still helped the team. It’s good that we scored two quick goals,” the midfielder said.
Gutsulyak entered the field in the 76th minute of the match, replacing Alexander Zubkov. Vladimir Brazhko and Maxim Taloverov also made their debuts in the Ukrainian national team in this match.
The Ukrainian national team has arrived in Poznan, where it will hold several training sessions in the town of Opalenica. Three days later, the blue-yellows will move to Trzebnica, where they will hold their final training session before the final match of the March training camp.
Ukraine’s nominally “home” match with Iceland will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26. The meeting starts at 21:45 Kyiv time. The winner of the confrontation will advance to the 2024 European Championship, where they will play in a quartet with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
Euro 2024 will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
