American figure skaters Madison Chock And Evan Bates won first place in ice dancing at the World Championships in Montreal (Canada).
Based on the results from both programs, Chock and Bates earned 222.20 points. Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier finished second (219.68), Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri third (216.52). Diane Davis And Gleb Smolkin took 12th place (188.34). Chock and Bates became two-time world champions.
Before the current season, Davis/Smolkin represented Russia, they are vice-champions of the country in 2022 and participants in the 2022 Olympic Games. Today, the skaters compete for the Georgian national team: at the 2024 European Championships in Kaunas (Lithuania) they took seventh place.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
