Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix, Verstappen did not finish due to technical problems

Charles Leclerc was second, Lando Norris third

Ferrari pilot Carlos Sainz became the winner Australian Grand Prix 2024 V Formula 1.

The Spaniard started from second position, and already on the second lap overtook the pole holder Max Verstappen. In the end, Carlos finished first. Ferrari completed a double, with Charles Leclerc taking second place and McLaren’s Lando Norris third.

World champion Verstappen began to experience problems with his rear brakes from the start. Because of this, the Dutchman first lost position to Sainz and then retired from the race. Lewis Hamilton also did not make it to the finish line.

Also finishing within the same lap as the winner were Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Sergio Perez (Red Bull), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), Yuki Tsunoda (RB), Nico Hulkenberg (Haas). Haas’ Kevin Magnussen, in tenth place, was a lap behind the winner. He crashed the car a few laps before the finish, but got 17th place, George Russell.

Verstappen remains the leader of the overall World Championship standings. Leclerc now loses four points to him, Perez is in third place. The next Grand Prix will take place in Japan at the Suzuka Circuit from April 5 to 7.
