Former world champion Valdez: It’s stupid for any fighter to say he doesn’t want to face Lomachenko in the ring

A fight with a Ukrainian is a dream for a Mexican athlete

Former WBC world super featherweight champion and former WBO world featherweight champion Oscar Valdez announced his intentions to meet with Ukrainian boxer Vasily Lomachenko.

“I think it’s stupid for any fighter to say that he doesn’t want the opportunity to face Vasiliy Lomachenko in the ring. This is a dream fight for me. He is a world-class fighter, but it all depends on the weight class. In boxing you always have a chance. Every fighter who comes into the fight has a chance,” Valdez said.

Let us remember that in May 2023, Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney in a fight for the title of absolute world champion. On May 12, Vasily will fight with George Kambosos for the vacant IBF lightweight belt.

The event, which also includes two undercard fights, will take place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, starting at approximately 5 a.m. Kyiv time.
