Athletistic / Chess. Russian grandmaster Sergei Karyakin has spoken out about the lack of condolences from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall. The first to draw attention to this point was the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
“This did not surprise me at all. Unfortunately, Thomas Bach became an ardent Russophobe. If earlier he was even called a friend of Russia, now he has completely changed. So we found out that he is a person two-faced. Even if they sent these condolences, they would not be sincere and therefore Russia does not need to pay attention to them at all.
I think the most important thing is that our country is united these days. I can’t even imagine how the victims’ relatives can survive all this now. We support them all during this difficult time. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Terrorists tried to divide Russia, but we only became stronger. So we cannot be defeated globally in this way. Russia has always defeated terrorism. And I would like to once again express my sincere condolences to everyone,” Karyakin said, as quoted by Match TV.
On March 22, terrorists entered the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk (Moscow region), where the start of a concert by the rock band Picnic was being prepared. The attackers opened fire indiscriminately then set the building on fire. Currently, 137 deaths have been recorded. March 24 has been declared a national day of mourning in Russia.
