Dani Alves has officially been released from prison on bail of one million euros

The Brazilian was not given his passport, he must appear in court every Friday

Former Barcelona and Brazil defender Dani Alves officially released from prison on bail.

A Barcelona court made a decision to release the ex-footballer last week. It took Alves several days to raise the required one million euro deposit.

A Brazilian left a Barcelona prison without his passport. He is required to appear in court every Friday week. Alves will be free until the final consideration of all appeals, but if the conviction is confirmed, the ex-footballer will be imprisoned again.

In February, the Catalan Supreme Court formally sentenced Alves to four and a half years in prison on charges of sexual assault. In addition to the aforementioned prison term, Alves was additionally sentenced to a five-year probationary period, as well as paying compensation to his victim in the amount of 150 thousand euros. In addition, the offender is prohibited from communicating with the injured party for 9.5 years.

Let us recall that in November last year the Barcelona prosecutor’s office requested a nine-year prison sentence for the accused. According to prosecutors, Alves raped a 21-year-old girl on the night of December 30, 2022, in a private area of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. The incident took place in a small bathroom, where the Brazilian invited the victim. The accused has been in custody since January 2023.

40-year-old Dani Alves is known for his performances for Barcelona, with which he became the champion of Spain six times, won the Champions League three times and many other trophies. The player is also the record holder of the Brazilian national team in the history of the World Cup. The defender’s last club was the Mexican Pumas. Following the announcement of the court verdict, Barcelona officially removed Alves from the pantheon of club legends.
