The title will become full if Emmanuel Navarrete defeats Denis Berinchyk and retains the lightweight belt
Former two-weight world champion Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KO) will fight next against the Australian Liam Wilson (13-2, 7 KOs) for the WBO interim super featherweight title.
The winner of the fight has a chance to become a full-fledged title holder. This will happen if the current champion, Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete, defeats Ukrainian Denis Berinchyk and decides to retain the lightweight belt.
In this situation, the WBO will appoint a title in the second featherweight division on May 18, after the Navarrete-Berincik fight. From now on, the winner of the Valdez-Wilson fight will have 180 days to make a mandatory defense.
Valdez lost the WBO super title to Navarrete in his last fight in August 2023. The fight with Wilson will take place on March 29 in the USA.
