Sautin on Povzner’s return to the Canadian flag: “It’s not a loss for the Russian team”

The transfer of diver Viktor Povzner to the Canadian team is not a loss for the Russian team, two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Sautin told .

The press service of the Russian Diving Federation told on Wednesday that Povzner, 22, who previously competed for Russian national team changed his sporting citizenship and will represent Canada in international competitions.

— He was good at jumping the one meter springboard, but it’s not an Olympic discipline. He also reached the podium at national competitions.

Povzner is originally from Toronto. In 2018, as part of the Canadian team, he won gold at the World Junior Synchronized Ski Jumping Championships, after which he moved to Russia. In 2022, the athlete returned to Canada.
