Gerson Rodriguez sentenced to 18 months suspended prison sentence

The winger was charged with three counts of assault and battery.

The Luxembourg City Court made a decision in the winger’s case Gerson Rodriguez, playing for Bratislava Slovan on loan from Dynamo Kyiv. The 28-year-old player was charged with three counts of assault and battery, including domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.

The court sentenced Rodriguez to 18 months of suspended imprisonment and imposed a fine of 1,500 euros. Gerson must also pay his ex-girlfriend 2,300 euros in compensation.

The first incident with Gerson occurred in March 2019, when he attacked a man outside a nightclub. The winger also hit a man in June 2022. In November 2022, he attacked his ex-girlfriend.

Rodriguez has been a Dynamo player since the summer of 2019. The winger was regularly loaned out to the Kyiv club – to Turkish Ankaragucu, Eyupspor and Sivasspor, French Troyes, Emirati Al-Wahda, Slovak Slovan.

The 28-year-old player moved to the club from Bratislava in February of this year. According to Transfermarkt, this agreement is valid until the end of 2024, and Rodriguez’s contract with the Kyiv club expires in the summer of 2025.

In total, the Luxembourg footballer played 53 matches for Dynamo, in which he scored nine goals and gave four assists.
