Olympic ice dancing champion Natalia Bestemyanova believes that Russians will be allowed to participate in the 2026 Olympics with restrictions.
By decision of the International Skating Union (ISU), Russian figure skaters are suspended from participation in international competitions due to the events in Ukraine. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, individual admission of Russians will be in neutral status according to the criteria of a special commission.
— I think we will be allowed to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games, but with restrictions. “I really hope that the Russians are allowed to participate in the World Cup next year; if they are not, there will only be one quota for the Olympics, it will be very sad” , Bestemyanova told .
The Winter Olympic Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) from February 6 to 22, 2026.
