Halep will not play against Ukraine in the Billie Jean King Cup

The confrontation will take place in American Florida on April 12 and 13

Former world number one Simona Halep won’t play against Ukrainian national team in qualification Billie Jean King Cup.

The Romanian tennis player had health problems after the tournament in Miami. Let us remind you that in the USA, Halep played her first match after the doping scandal, and lost in the first round to Spaniard Paula Badosa.

The Romanian national team did not report replacing Halep with another tennis player. Ana Bogdan (No. 65 WTA ranking), Jacqueline Christian (No. 82), Anka Todoni (No. 227) and Mara Gaye (No. 1049) continue to prepare for the match with Ukraine.

Let us remind you that the blue-yellows will be represented in the duel by the first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina (No. 17 in the WTA rankings) and the 37th number in the world ranking Lesya Tsurenko. The application also included Yulia Starodubtseva (No. 129 WTA), Lyudmila Kichenok (No. 20 WTA doubles ranking) and Nadezhda Kichenok (No. 53 in doubles).

The confrontation will take place in Florida on April 12 and 13. The matches will be played on clay (on green clay courts).

For the third year in a row, Ukraine is trying to make it to the finals of the Billie Jean King Cup. In 2022, our tennis players lost to the US team, and in 2023 – to the Czech national team.
