“Hemingway wrote his great book when there was no town hall in Paris.” Gallyamov responded to Hidalgo

Russian figure skater Alexander Galliamov reacted with sarcasm to the declaration of the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.

Earlier, the mayor of the French capital, where the 2024 Olympic Games will take place, said that Russian and Belarusian athletes “would not be welcome” in Paris.

— It turns out that the great Ernest Hemingway wrote his great book at a time when there was no town hall in Paris.

Everyone was happy,” Gallyamov wrote on the Telegram channel.

Gallyamov attached to his message the cover of Hemingway’s work “The Holidays That Are Always With You”. This is a book of memoirs by the American writer Ernest Hemingway about his life in Paris.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.

The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
