In his first match after suffering an injury, Andrei scored a goal
Winger Dynamo Andrey Yarmolenko commented on his debut match in 2024. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the UPL round 22 match with Vorskla (5:1) and scored a goal.
“Of course, I’m glad to be back. Almost six months of hard work are behind us. It’s a very emotional moment for me to come back from injury.”
“First of all, I want to thank our entire medical staff – doctors, massage therapists, everyone who worked with me during all this time. Sometimes because of me they stayed at the base and didn’t go home. I am very grateful to them. I also want to thank all my teammates, because they took care of me during this month during training and did not play harshly against me. Many thanks to them for this.”
“Of course, there is always competition in all teams. It’s good, we help each other grow. But it’s cool when, in addition to competition, there are normal friendly relations between the players. We now have a great atmosphere in our team, a great team, so we joke with each other now. There is a head coach, he decides who will play. Today he plays, tomorrow I play, the day after tomorrow he plays again. This is normal in football. You always have to remain human and it’s better to stay positive.”
“It seems to me that I’m ready, but you need to live not by emotions. The coaching staff knows better from the outside what state I am in now. After such a pause of almost six months, you can’t immediately come out and play 90 minutes, you have to gradually approach this. There is a desire, but everything is decided by the head coach.”
In October last year, Yarmolenko underwent knee surgery. This season he has played 10 games, in which the midfielder scored five goals and one assist.
Dynamo is in fourth place in the UPL, having played 19 matches. On April 8, Alexander Shovkovsky’s team will host LNZ.
