Dnepr-1 holds third place in the UPL
Mentor SK Dnepr-1 Yuri Maksimov summed up the results of the confrontation with Kolos (2:0) in the 22nd round of the UPL.
“We were preparing for this meeting. The guys scored a quick goal in the second minute of the match, and then it was a bit difficult, because Kolos is a team that is well prepared physically, they don’t give up. We withstood the onslaught in the first half and, having held the advantage until the break, the guys ran away more in the second half. When the second goal was scored, the team began to play more confidently, was in complete control of the game and could have scored the third and fourth goals against the opponent.”
“I thank the guys for the game, because they stood it well today and played it well. And Pikhalenok and Gutsulyak, who returned from the national team, helped a lot, and the main thing that makes me happy is that the guys who were injured – Tretyakov, Lednev, Svatok, Tanchik – they returned to the general group, entered the game very well and helped our team “
“We prepare ourselves for every match, but sometimes we easily give away the game when we win 1:0. We sit on defense and then concede goals that we shouldn’t have conceded. We haven’t played very well in the last six matches, but there are reasons for that. Footballers build the game, but we had young people coming out who were not yet ready to play at this level at 19 years old. Now those who have recovered from injuries came out to the match and helped the team.
“We have a team. There are not very good games, but there is a team, and we will continue to play to win.”
“Everyone wants to win, but we need to have those guys on the bench who make up the competition. But then we didn’t have those who could come on as substitutes and help the team.”
Dnepr-1 takes third place in the UPL. In the next round of the Ukrainian Championship, Maksimov’s team will host Zorya on April 9.
