Athletistic / Figure skating. Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov of Russia said the hardest part for him was the rehabilitation process. For more than 9 months, the legendary athlete has continued with prosthetic limbs.

“When I’m standing, I feel like a whole person. But when I get home and undo everything, I realize that I’m like a cockroach on my back, who can’t even turn around . And in “In the morning, I feel like that too. Then, when it all starts again, I put it on, I drive the car, I feel good, I live. In everyday life, the hardest thing is to put everything on yourself.'” Kostomarov said on TNT’s “Will Show.”

Roman Kostomarov fell ill with pneumonia in January 2023. The illness led to complications, the athlete developed limb necrosis. For this reason, doctors had to partially amputate Roman’s limbs. He is now continuing the rehabilitation and prosthetic processes, but is already participating in ice shows.

Kostomarov, partnered with Tatyana Navka, became Olympic ice dancing champion in 2006. They also won two gold medals together at the World Championships and also became three-time European champions. After the Turin Olympic Games in 2006, they announced the end of their sporting career.
